First image of Ron Gilbert's next game arrives in puzzle form

Before Double Fine was kickstarting the world into submission, they recruited adventure game legend Ron Gilbert to make a new point-and-click adventure. With exception to a few images sent out from Gilbert's website, nothing was really known, until today. We received a small box in the mail filled with puzzle pieces that formed together to make the following image:

So, yeah. There's a first-look at Ron Gilbert and Double Fine's next game, whatever it's going to be. We're not going to lie, those characters sure look straight out of 1990s LucasArts games, and we're really excited to check out the game to see if it manages to capture the feel of those early classics.

Also included was a small slip of paper (not pictured) promising an actual look at the game in the near future. We're going to jump right onto that, and we'll report back as soon as we have something more solid to talk about.

And here's a closer look at the three main people, just in case you're interested:

So a kid, a scientist, and a knight. Alright, Gilbert, you've got our attention.

Hitman: Sniper Challenge revealed, Absolution coming November 20

Square Enix has just revealed that they'll be offering one of the coolest pre-order bonuses we've ever seen at GameStop during the lead up to the release of Hitman: Absolution.

While most companies are trying to figure out what sorts of things video gamers like to have in their pre-order packages (maybe it's art books, or statues, or keychains!), Square Enix has found the most elegant solution of all: another video game!

The company announced today that GameStop pre-order customers of Hitman: Absolution will receive a download code for Hitman: Sniper Challenge, which tasks you with taking out a mark (and all his bodyguards) from a rooftop.

While the game experience doesn't sound very extensive, you will receive weapon upgrades for future playthroughs. Some of which will even stick with you when you start playing Absolution. Moreover, the top snipers will be tracked via a leaderboard and flown out to Denmark to meet the Absolution development team.

Hitman: Sniper Challenge has its crosshairs set on May 15, while Hitman: Absolution is currently targeting a November 20, 2012 release date.

This Max Payne 3 comic is impossible to read without hearing Max Payne's voice inside your head

The combined creative might of Rockstar and Marvel recently released the first in a three part Max Payne 3 Comic Book series. It's co-written by Sam Lake from original Max Payne developer Remedy and Rockstar's veteran script man Dan Houser. It explores some of the bleak back-story - including a pretty miserable childhood - that shapes Max Payne's character. Anyone suffering itchy trigger-fingers ahead of next week's return to gaming of the hard-drinking and perennially shit-out-of-luck detective in Max Payne 3 should definitely check it out.

What makes the comic really amazing is the way it uses highly advanced audio-to-brain transmission technology to magically beam the satisfyingly manly voice of Max Payne into your head as you read. It really is something. Give it a try. You can read the entire first issue here.

We'll have the Max Payne 3 review ready for you next week.
