N4G The PlayStation 4 is black and rectangular. It has vents for air and seems to be made out of some kind of plastic. These revelations and more are at hand in this brief teaser video from Sony.
PS4's public debut in February was maybe not technically a debut; the console wasn't actually unveiled, just its games and controller. Luckily, that new DualShock 4 is a class act and it didn't let the embarrassment of being stood up detract from the occasion.
The system will finally step out during Sony's E3 press conference on June 10 at 6 p.m. PDT, without any blurry filter or quick cuts to shield it from the prying eyes of gamers. Check out everything we know about PS4 until then.

Heh, it almost feels as if Sony is trolling Microsoft with all these teases and announcements so close to their own reveal XDBut yeah, this is kinda annoying, specially because as I've said before who gives a shit what the console looks like? As long as it doesn't weigh more as an original Xbox and it's sturdy enough to avoid breaking as these gen consoles have, I honestly couldn't care less about the appearance, and the same goes for the NextBox, really. I think this is the first time that pre-E3 may turn out to have been better than the actual E3. It feels like big lunky companies jostling for position, and more like a group of Ninjas trying to outstealth each other lol. It's so cryptic and I love it. Reply Report

who knows, buddy. maybe the consoles themselves reveal some kind of feature that nobody would have thought of.... For Sony it could be the case as they obviously make a big deal about the hardware itself. Reply Report

They are making a big deal about the hardware, because every single idiot in the press made a scandal about the physical console not being shown, and because all the sheep in the Internet also made the same noise. If no one had given a crap, I assure you that this teaser most likely wouldn't exist. Reply Report

I was thinking the same thing. There has to be something special about the PS4's console design. This is reminding me of when Nintendo announced the Revolution (Wii). It wasn't until about a year after announcing the console design that Nintendo revealed the controller. Most people expected the revolution to have just a typical controller, but the controller ended up being the most unique aspect of the system. I have a feeling that the Ps4 is going to be the same way, just the other way around. Reply Report

I wouldn't be surprised if this is another calculated move from Sony. Get people talking about PS4 the day before MS's big reveal...and it's a lot tamer than the (possible) troll from last time by. I still wonder if Sony didn't intentionally announce the launch date for PS3 knowing from day 1 that they'd have to postpone...just to see if MS would take the bait and trip over itself trying to get to market first, opening itself up to a huge mistake in the process. Which they did, skimping on Accelerated Lifetime Testing and not catching the cause of the RRoD before production started. Reply Report

Hehe... Might be, again, I really do feel like Sony IS trolling MS somewhat, and I agree that it's very possible that the PS4 might be postponed because there's even a statement from Sony's execs before the PS4 reveal that claimed that they were not in any hurry to be first XDThat being said... even with the whole RRoD, it's undeniable that the huge head-start that MS had worked wonders for them, more so than if they had released the console later without such a large rate of RRoD problems. So even if Sony's trying to troll them to release their console sooner than they should, it might be in Sony's best interest to not take so long this time around :P Reply Report

MS's lead wasn't hurt any by how hard Sony dropped the ball. Even with the delay, they didn't have the greatest software lineup, and the $600 asking price was murder on early adopters.Had the leadership not fallen for the "We are gaming!" mindset that precluded Nintendo's fall from grace...and for that matter followed their footsteps completely [Hungry Underdog / Massive success / 'We are gaming!' blunder], had they not bent over backwards to support the movie division's demands, had they designed around a competitive asking price, and had they pushed for a killer software lineup [essential when someone else is already out of the gate, especially with that much of a head start] for launch, they would've slaughtered the 360 and might have even been able to challenge the Wii on amount of hardware sold. But, hindsight's 20-20. Hopefully Kaz has had a lot of influence on PS4's development; if anyone can turn the Playstation division around from 'occasionally in 2nd place' back to 'dominant beyond anyone's wildest dreams' like the PS2 was, it's him. Looks like it'll be a revision of the existing PS3 case. It's a smart move, means they can re-use most of the existing tooling. Reply Report

Clever move, the day before the Xbox reveal. However all I can glean from this is that it's big and black...I am hoping that the blue line at the end is incorporated into the console like some futuristic 'on' light. Reply Report

I'm pretty sure that we're so tired of rumors and teasers and leaks and whatnot regarding the next gen in general at the point that we don't give much of a shit until it's out. Reply Report

This. Also, any hybrid players (PC/Console) not that excited, despite the specs? I just can't seem to be, despite how much I like my PS3. Reply Report

I'd describe myself more as 'Cautious'. I've been burned by Sony before, I'm not willing to give them the benefit of the doubt this time...and MS sounds like they're going to burn me this time. The only one I'm genuinely, no-hesitation interested in right now is WiiToo.
