Assassin's Creed III - New screens leak out of PAX East

Fresh from PAX (via Gamefreaks), here's some new shots from Assassin's Creed III. From the look of the newly-glimpsed HUD, these shots offer your first decent-sized look at the sequel's in-game action. They depict new hero Connor exploring the New World, sneaking about behind some improbably-convenient battlefield cover, and eavesdropping on what we're sure is a very emotional battlefield speech about freedom and honor and so forth.

While your initial glimpses of ACIII have been all Connor, all the time, Ubisoft's said Assassin's Creed III will be Desmond's biggest role yet as well. You can catch up with other early AssCreedIII facts, including an interview with creative director Alex Hutchinson, in our recently-posted preview, Assassin’s Creed III – First look at the Revolution through Connor’s eyes.

Prototype 2 collectibles guide

James Heller has a lot of blanks to fill in, and one of the best ways he can do that (besides killing and eating everyone and everything in sight) is to seek out collectibles. In a way, each one will help Heller learn a little more about what’s really going on - and of course the mutation rewards are nice secondary incentive.

In addition to the maps of each zone, we have one screenshot of each collectible’s exact location (appropriately numbered). Make sure to check the minimap in the corner of each of these screens for even further detail.

Note: Initially, you cannot go beyond the Yellow Zone. Complete more story missions to gain access to the other two islands. Also, the first lair in the Yellow Zone cannot be accessed until you complete Mission 10: Orion Phase 2.

Portal 2 DLC trailer: Cave Johnson walks you through the Perpetual Testing Initiative

Yesterday you heard from us that you had some Portal 2 DLC coming soon, with free map editor content, to look forward to. However, we're well aware that in the hierarchy of things, we're not as high on the informational food chain as fictionalized plutocratic caricatures like Cave Johnson, Andrew Ryan or John Riccitiello. If JK Simmons' Portal mastermind wants to give this thing a formal introduction, we're certainly not about to stand in his way.

You'll get your shot at creating Portal 2's most testing chamber when the Perpetual Testing Initiative DLC goes live on Steam in early May, free for PC and Mac players and sadly nonexistent for PS3 or Xbox as yet. Maybe someone can knock together some portals to one of those alternate realities where the Perpetual Testing Initiative's available for all platforms; it seems like a longshot, but the modding community is nothing if not full of surprises.
