Binding of Isaac DLC release date announced

Titled "Wrath of the Lamb," creator Edmund McMillen announced today that the DLC pack for The Binding of Isaac will be released on Steam on May 28. He also took the opportunity to reiterate that this will be the only expansion for the game.

He said that all of the focus will now be on Super Meat Boy: The Game, the long awaited mobile version of the popular tough-as-nails platformer, Super Meat Boy.

"Development for Super Meat Boy: The Game has started full time and once it's moving I won't be looking back!"

Diablo 3 cartoon pits posse of angels against Diablo

We're betting you'll be surprised by how high quality this six-minute cartoon is. It's got awesome Tyrael-slicing-action, and as much of that smooth Deckard Cain voiceover as you can handle.

See? We told you it was cool. It's not going to do much to tide us over until May 15 though. The short was created by Titmouse who also created the animations for Guitar Hero, as well as television shows like Afro Samurai and Metalocalypse.

Star Wars: The Old Republic on sale for Star Wars Day

EA announced today that they're temporarily dropping the price of Star Wars: The Old Republic in observance of the relatively new holiday, "Star Wars Day." The deal runs until May 6.

Star Wars Day was spawned about seven years ago when George Lucas was asked by a TV interviewer to say the famous phrase, "May the Force be with you." The interview was later translated into German, and came with an odd quirk. 

The translator screwed up a bit and instead of saying, "May the Force be with you" it was translated into "We'll be with you on May the 4th." So when you're explaining to your friends why you decided to pick up SWTOR you can tell them, "It all started in 2005 when a George Lucas interview was translated into German..."

Portal 2 reaches 4 million sales, DLC level editor now available

Shortly after the one year anniversary of the games release, Valve has announced that they are ready to release Portal 2's map editor, dubbed the Perpetual Testing Initiative.

Though most users will doubtlessly never touch the map editor (and those who do will probably be terrible at it) the 1% of decent maps will likely be enough to last even the most devoted Portal-fan until Kingdom Come (hence the title "Perpetual" Testing Initiative).

In other news, Valve also announced that Portal 2 has officially broken the 4 million mark. They did not, however, say how that number broke down from platform to platform, though we assume that most of those sales came from the PC version. 

The four million sales mark is not entirely surprising though. Valve aggressively promoted the series through the release of Portal 2, sharply lowering the price several times across all platforms mere weeks after release.

Prototype 2 achievement and trophy guide

There’s a lot of work for James Heller to do around the city. Nabbing all single story and side mission-related achievement can take a while, but you should be able to do nearly everything during your first playthrough. Skill-based achievements are quite prominent in Prototype 2 as well, so we’ve whipped up just as many screens, videos, and descriptions to guide you through each and every one.

50g/Silver

Fully upgraded Heller

This achievement requires you to reach Heller’s maximum evolution level, which is 23, and acquire all 46 upgrades. Even if you collect all collectibles and do all side quests, you’ll still need to start a new game + to get enough experience to reach level 23.

20g/Bronze

10 or more kills with a single Black Hole attack 

A Black Hole attack is executed by equipping your Tendrils and holding down the attack button. The best places to pull this off are inside a lair, on a crowded sidewalk, or Red Zone’s central park.

20g/Silver

Destroyed 5 vehicles using a Finisher

Before this can be pulled off, you’ll need to progress the main story far enough to unlock the ability to use upgrade points on Finishers. Once you do, simply mount a vehicle by getting near it an pressing B/Circle, then Y/Triangle to finish it.

10g/Bronze

Karate kicked a helicopter

Very simple. Unequip any weapons, get fairly close to a chopper while airborne, and hold X/Square. Heller will karate kick the chopper.

Diablo 3 to sell 3.5 million in 2012 says analyst

Arvind Bhatis of Stern Agee said today that he expects Diablo 3 to be a catalyst that will push Activision Blizzard's stock price up. He said that even releasing after twelve years it still has the potential to sell 4 million units in its lifetime.

With all due respect to the man, that sounds like a pretty ridiculously low number. Diablo is an incredibly popular series that sells well all over the world. And now it's backed by the ever-increasing reputation of Blizzard. GamesRadar's resident analyst (read: whoever happens to be writing the article) thinks this guy is underestimating the staying power of an Blizzard game. 

Here at GamesRadar we've probably bought 2-3 copies each of Diablo 2 over the years, because 12 years later it's still that freakin' good. Twelve years later you can still find the Diablo bundle pack on Best Buy store shelves. What's more, all the way in 2008, the Diablo Battle Chest was still number 18 on the top-selling PC games chart.

We'll have to wait and see, but we'd be shocked if Diablo 3 only sold 0.5 million copies from 2013 onward. About a month ago, an analyst from Cowen and Company predicted 5 million sales in just the first year. Now that sounds like a more reliable figure.

Assassin's Creed 3 gets dirty with Ben Franklin

In an interview with Penny Arcade Report, Alex Hutchinson, creative director on Assassin's Creed III discussed some of the challenges of designing the game. He began by explaining how hard it is to stay true to real people in the AC series.

He said they always try to make sure the people who are assassinated were...actually killed. He says the goal is to make sure they are real people who die in AC at the same place/time as they did in real life.

This branched off into a conversation about portraying Benjamin Franklin realistically, which is rare in most media. While he's often portrayed as an upstanding paladin of American values, he was also kind of a horn dog.

“We went with the more unusual sides of him. Like his love of women,” Hutchinson explained. “He said that women dry out, but they dry out from the top down, and therefore the bits that you need never dry out. I know we’re going to get [complaints], but this is all public record.”

Penny Arcade took the liberty of looking up Franklin's actual quote, and here it is to scar you forever: "Because in every Animal that walks upright, the Deficiency of the Fluids that fill the Muscles appears first in the highest Part: The Face first grows lank and wrinkled; then the Neck; then the Breast and Arms; the lower Parts continuing to the last as plump as ever: So that covering all above with a Basket, and regarding only what is below the Girdle, it is impossible of two Women to know an old from a young one.
