Walking Dead Episode 1 sells a million copies

Spreading like an extremely fun zombie virus, the Walking Dead episodic adventure game from Telltale has now infected over one million gamers since its launch on April 25.

Titled "A New Day" the first episode of The Walking Dead was reportedly the number one selling title on Xbox Live for two straight weeks. Until - we assume - Trials Evolution and Minecraft came along and stole our hearts.

Telltale also said that the game has been their fastest selling title ever. Which is great news for Telltale considering they haven't even launched the iOS version yet which will be coming this Summer, and is destined to be a big seller.

"A New Day" is just the first of five episodes that are being planned for episodic release. It costs $4.99 (or 400 MSP) and is available for Xbox 360, PS3, and PC. Lets hope for Telltale that fans are infected and will come shambling back for more in the coming episodes.

Respawn Entertainment will be at E3, but their first game won’t be

Respawn Entertainment, the development supergroup formed by ex-Infinity Ward executives, will be at E3 this year. Their mystery sci-fi shooter project, however, won’t be. Respawn community manager Abbie Heppe told Joystiq, "some of us will be present at E3, but we won't be showing anything or doing any press related to the game."

Is Respawn just going to check out the competition? Or to look for more high profile talent to add to their project? Either way, we’ll have to keep squinting at the same blurry screenshots and mo-cap sessions until they let loose some details. Whatever the project, Respawn’s tight-lipped buzz building technique is working. We’re excited for some actual details!

This story given you a hankering for more E3-based semi-information? Click over to our E3 2012 rumors compendium. It's being updated with each and every new story from now until the show.

Borderlands 2 special editions revealed, includes epic $150 loot chest

With the release of Borderlands 2 fast approaching, 2K Games dropped us a line to show off their newly-announced special edition packages for Borderlands 2. Most people will opt for the vanilla box-disc-manual version of Borderlands 2, but fans of stuff are going to flip out on the $150 mega package.

In addition to the regular version of Borderlands (game only), fans will also have access to the Deluxe Vault Hunter's Collector's Edition which features: Borderlands 2, a Marcus Kincaid bobblehead (he's the weapons dealer in the first game), a Borderlands 2 hardcover art book, sticker set, a map of Pandora, digital comic download, and a voucher for a DLC pack.

That's just the middle class version. The high-society version of Borderlands 2 costs $149.99 and has been dubbed the Ultimate Loot Chest Limited Edition. This behemoth comes with all of the items listed above, plus a replica of Borderlands' in-game loot chests, steel game case, a "Creatures of Pandora" ID chart, postcard set, "field notes from Sir Hammerlock; a cloth map of Pandora, and a numbered certificate of authenticity (ooo, fancy!).

But they're not done yet! In addition to this mega-load of loot, there are also pre-order bonuses. Pre-ordering any version of Borderlands 2 includes access to Borderlands 2 Premiere Club which includes a DLC pack of weapons, a Golden Key (used to unlock special items), the Vault Hunter's relic, and an all-new character class called the Mechromancer.

Borderlands 2 is due on store shelves on September 18 on 360, PS3, and PC. It will probably be awesome.

Call of Duty lawsuit between Activision and EA settled, West and Zampalla case heats up

We’re not sure how much you’ve been keeping up with it to date, but there was a big update today in the legal battle over Call of Duty. After some back and forth between industry giants Activision and EA for more than a year, the two settled their legal dispute today. However, the bigger case between Activision and the former Infinity Ward bosses continues.

http://www.gamesradar.com/call-duty-lawsuit-between-activision-and-ea-settled-west-and-zampalla-case-continues/

Here’s some quick background: In 2010 Jason West and Vince Zampella, the heads of CoD dev Infinity Ward, left the company and parted with Activision on unfriendly terms to put it lightly. After the two were fired, they soon began a new studio (Respawn) that then made a publishing deal with EA. West and Zampella sued Activision for unfair dismissal, then Activision countersued EA, alleging that EA tried to hire West and Zampella while still under contract with Activision.

The details of today’s conclusion of the countersuit are a mystery and will probably remain so, as that’s how these things normally play out. “Activision and EA have agreed to put this matter behind them," was the only statement released by both sides. Meanwhile, the West and Zampella case continues, with new details hitting the web today alleging that Activision’s attempts to dig up dirt on their former employees. You’ll find more info on that here.

Diablo III

Entry Location:

In Diablo II when you got low on health you could just chug health potions like a sixth-year frat boy at a high school kegger. Not any more. Now there is a cooldown timer dictating how many potions a warrior can drink. But not to worry, health orbs are the cool new way all the kids are using to refill their health bar. You will still need to drink potions for a quick boost of health. Just hit the "Q" key to drink one, so you don't have to use your cursor.

Enemies will now drop health orbs and all you have to do is walk by them and pick them up. You can even equip armor that extends the range at which you pick up health and gold. When you pick up a health orb it also heals your pets, followers and allies. So everyone on your party will be sharing in the revitalizing goodness.

Your Stash is now shared between all of your characters in Diablo III. Now you can use your stash to mule weapons between each character. The change is a bit of a double-edged sword: though it is now easier to get items to characters that need them most, the shared item bank will fill up more quickly. You will only start off with 14 slots to store all your extra loot between all characters. It cost 10,000 gold each time to add 14 slots to the stash. You can have up to 5 tabs of bank with 70 slots per tab totaling a max stash size of 350 slots. But gold will not be stashable since it is also a shared resource between all your characters. Hardcore heroes will also have a separate shared stash than non-hardcore characters.

Crafting your own magical (or “blue”) items is a new addition to Diablo III. Early in the first act you will get the ability to break down blue items into their magical components and recombine those reagents into other magical items. So be sure to save all your blue items in Act I to break them down for crafting material.

This becomes a balancing act, however. If you break down too many items you won't have very much money. Also, if you spend too much money upgrading your crafter, you might not have the cash to pay them to make you the gear or expand your Stash.

So break down those blue items, just remember to sell them when you start hurting for gold.

If you ever see a treasure goblin, kill it! Kill it as fast as you can! These little misfits will run around the stage dropping bits of gold as they go. They drop some nice blue items when they die, but if you wait too long they will summon a portal and disappear forever.

If there's a room full of destructible stuff, destroy it! If you break it all quickly you can be given an experience reward.

One of the greatest advantages is checking the “Show Advanced Tooltips” option. It will show you exactly how much damage your spells do and how each of them works. It replaces a general statement like “Haunts an enemy with a spirit,” to “Haunts an enemy with a spirit, dealing 575 percent weapon damage as Arcane over 12 seconds.” It is really helpful and gives you exactly the information you need.

At a glance, Diablo III seems limited in terms of customization, but there's a fix. Go into the Gameplay section of the Options menu and click on Elective mode. It lets you map any spell you want to an open ability slot on your tool bar, no matter which category it falls into. They don't share cooldowns, either, so you can really go wild. It’s really useful for those who like to kill outside the lines.
