Defiance trailer gives a first look at Trion and Syfy's MMO/FPS/TV show hybrid

http://www.gamesradar.com/defiance-trailer-gives-first-look-trion-and-syfys-mmorpgtv-show-hybrid/

We haven't heard much about Trion Worlds' ambitious MMO/FPS/TV show hybrid, Defiance, since we saw it at E3 last year. There, we saw a small bit of gameplay and were told about plans to merge the show with a Syfy original television series, but after that event the developer went dark. Now, they've finally come out of hiding, bringing new footage of the ambitious, interesting shooter.

While the trailer first makes it look like a typically massive shooter, it eventually evolves into something more unique. Giant monsters, vehicles, and thousands of players all sharing an exclusive world? Even without the prospect of hearing your character's name mentioned on a TV show, that's pretty cool in and of itself. Check out the trailer to see some bug-shooting masthead, and check back for more Defiance news as we get it.

Ms. Splosion Man revealed for PC, Mobile and iOS

Twisted Pixel has announced it's teaming up with Iron Galaxy, Fire Hose and Panic Button to port its XBLA hit, Ms. Splosion Man, to a whole host of other platforms. As well as authentic PC ports to be made available through Steam and Games for Windows Live, the game will be coming to iOS and Windows Mobile devices in a “unique experience” tailored for touch-play.

http://www.gamesradar.com/ms-splosion-man-revealed-pc-mobile-and-ios/

“These new versions are being painstakingly crafted to be as awesome as possible,” says Twisted Pixel's Michael Wilford. Iron Galaxy's Chief Operating Bro (really), Dave Lang, says the studio's excited to be working on the mobile ports, praising the game's “really deep gameplay that is born from deceptively simple controls.”

While the PC version will contain familiar single-player and multiplayer content alongside a lengthy list of unlockables, Iron Galaxy's mobile ports will remix the game's content with new objectives and game modes optimized for touchscreen players. It's not clear how many copies need to move before the studio calls off its war on poor Debbie, who probably just wanted a chat after all.

Mass Effect 3's Multiplayer “Resurgence” DLC is coming very soon, for free

Well, this has been quite the saga. Remember when Mass Effect 3's Metacritic Problem first reared its problematically homophobic head? Or that somewhat heated discussion (ahem) over the Mass Effect 3 ending, why it is fine and/or the worst thing ever, etc, etc? And even as Mass Effect 3's free Extended Cut DLC has been announced, the game's publisher wins a somewhat rigged-seeming anti-award that many are attributing largely to ME3's ending and paid DLC. Well, fine, here's news of a free multiplayer DLC update to go along with the free single-player revision already announced. Can we finally agree that Mass Effect 3 is actually a pretty good deal?

The Mass Effect 3 Resurgence pack, coming to consoles and Origin April 10 (4/11 in Europe), will add two new maps, Firebases Condor and Hydra, to the game's multiplayer line-up. There's also six new multiplayer characters (Asari Justicar Adept, Krogan Battlemaster Vanguard, Batarian Soldier, Batarian Sentinel, Geth Engineer and Geth Infiltrator), three new unlockable weapons (Striker Assault Rifle, Kishock Harpoon Gun and Geth Plasma SMG) and new consumable powerups for you to choose from. Come on, surely someone at EA/Bioware deserves an unironic cupcake or two by now.

Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode II release dates revealed by Sega

Sega's announced the release dates for Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode II, which for a game about an impossibly fast urchin sure has taken its sweet time since the 2010 release of its predecessor. Not that we're complaining: if it's as enjoyable, retro-friendly and ridiculous-animal-soap-opera-free as the first episode, any time of the year is a good time for Sonic.

The game'll be releasing May 15 on PSN, and one day later on XBLA. IOS and PC versions of the title have already been dated for May, with an Android version to follow in June and the Windows Phone port to close off the festivities in July. By which time, of course, console owners will be well done with the game and starting to ask insistent questions about Episode III. Sega can pack its games with as many hyperspeed woodland creatures as it pleases; there's no keeping up with the Internet's voracious hunger for new shiny things.

Mass Effect 3 romance guide

Bioware has done a brilliant job managing the ripple effects of your decisions over three massive games, and your romance choices are certainly no exception. Depending on who your Shepard was close to in the first two games, you can choose to continue a romantic relationship or start a new one. Even those who haven’t played ME1 or ME2 can find love in ME3, though sadly, two characters will be off the table: Tali and Garrus can only be romanced by a returning love interest.

Above: ME3 has romance options for EVERYONE

Loyalty missions are a thing of the past, but there are missable opportunities to make or break your chances at romance. The following guide outlines the important moments for every potential love interest in Mass Effect 3 to help you do things the right way on your first playthrough, likely so you can do things differently on your second. And of course, we’ve included video of the naught bits.

Disclaimer 1: While we made sure to avoid them when possible, this guide may contain minor spoilers. However, it does not contain any details regarding any of the game’s major branches, final missions, or potential endings.

Disclaimer 2: Don’t let any of our transparent personal preferences deter you from following your heart. We may prefer Liara’s head-tentacles to Ashley’s flowing locks, but we’ll still tell you what it takes to win them both (not simultaneously, of course) and aren’t here to judge you. After all, this is a romance guide for a video game.

Counter-Strike Online: Nexon developing sequel to free-play Valve spinoff

Nexon has announced that it's working on Counter-Strike Online 2, a sequel to its 2007 adaptation of Valve's landmark FPS. Like its predecessor, the game will be developed by Nexon's Korean wing with oversight from the Seattle rights-holder, whose enhanced Source Engine will power the sequel. Nexon will publish the game in Japan, Korea, China and Southeast Asia; Valve, listed as US distributor of the original, hasn't yet announced plans for the sequel.

Above: Exactly the same thing as the terrorists/CTOs you know and love to shoot, just... different

Counter-Strike Online sees players competing in a range of FPS scenarios, including new modes and setups imported from Valve's original. The game utilized a microtransaction-driven model before such strategies had become a Western buzzword, utilizing indelicately-titled GASH credits to price in-game weapons, skins and powerups. It's something of a success story for Maplestory developer Nexon, boasting concurrent user-counts of 50,000 in Korea and ten times that in China. Nexon hopes its “proven development expertise and deep understanding of local markets” will propel the sequel to even greater success in the Asian market.

Players outside Nexon's target market can keep up with Counter-Strike through our most recent Counter-Strike: Global Offensive preview.

Syndicate business card and propaganda locations guide

If you’re like us, you’ll spend a lot of time using your digitally enhanced neural abilities to turn your enemies into gun-wielding puppets of destruction. But there’s more work to do if you’re looking to get everything you can out of Syndicate’s campaign.

Over the game’s 20 milestones (aka chapters), there are a total of 30 business cards and 60 pieces of propaganda. The cards are usually easy to spot, as each one emits a prominent orange hologram. The propaganda, on the other hand, can only be revealed if you’re using the DART overlay. The videos and screens below show the most efficient way to find both the cards and propaganda simultaneously, without having to do any replaying or backtracking.
