Gameplay videos of Sonic: Lost World's Wii U and 3DS versions

Sonic: Lost World is fast, colorful, and filled with new takes on series staples. See it yourself in IGN's first look at both the Wii U and 3DS versions of the upcoming game, ahead of its debut at E3 next week.

That's the Wii U version above. On top of the play you see there, Sonic: Lost World will also add in a cooperative play mode which casts a Wii-remote bearing player as Sonic's sidekick Tails, lending a hand through remote-controlled gadgets, and a local competitive mode using the GamePad and TV screens.

Above is the same Windy Hill region as the previous video, but this time for 3DS. It bears the same name and a similar approach, but it's not a port; Sonic: Lost World for 3DS has entirely new level designs to match the mobile system's capabilities. It will support four-player Versus mode locally or online.

What do you think of the blue blur's new style?

SimCity Mac release delayed to August

EA has delayed the release of the Mac version of SimCity from its previously planned June 11 launch to an unspecified date in August. In a post on the game’s website, senior producer Kip Katsarelis said: “We have made this tough decision because we do not believe it is ready for primetime yet. We want to ensure the Mac is a great experience for our players and that is why we are taking more time.”

The Mac version will be exclusively available as an Origin download and support cross-platform play with the PC edition, which has chalked up over 1.3 million sales since releasing in March. While the news will be frustrating to those waiting for a Mac version, EA’s caution is understandable given the disastrous PC launch.

Katsarelis also said Maxis is working on a series of multiplayer and multi-city fixes and improvements set to be included in title update 5 in a “couple of weeks”, and that update 6 will focus on RCI improvements.

Update 5 notes

New: Historic Price charts for Global Market resources are available from the SimCity World button on the main menu. New: The Region Wall chat has been completely updated with a new look and new functionality! Chat functions more efficiently and it’s much easier to communicate with other players. Time stamps show on chat messages on rollover. Regional events are easier to read and can be toggled on and off. New: Added a filter for friends’ regions in the join region section. New: Trading control. Added feature to give players more control over their utilities. Players can now choose whether or not to keep their power, water, or sewage local. This setting can be found on the information panel accessible by clicking on the power plant, water tower, or sewage pipe or plant. Sharing with the region is on by default. New: Regional Missions: Added seven new regional missions: Drink It Up!, Plug In, So Stoked, The Wheels on the Bus, Ferry Dust, Station to Station, and Riding Coach. New: Regional Achievement: Added a new regional achievement, Field Trip! Gifting Improvements: Cash gifts are now delivered electronically, not by truck. This should improve the efficiency of gifting. Resource gifts: Resource gifts will happen more reliably. Multiple trucks can make deliveries at once if they are available in the sending city and the truck capacities have been increased. Great Works Improvements: Delivery trucks will mark their resources as dropped off as soon as they reach the Great Works, instead of when they arrive back in the city. This will make tracking time more reliable. Great Works Improvements: Update to have all resources at Great Works handled at the regional level. This will address players in different cities seeing different resources once the server has processed the region and cities. Great Works Improvements: Fixed an issue where an Arcology would maintain power from the region and fixed an issue where shoppers would not increase at the Arcology as it was leveled up. This will update in both existing and new Arcologies. Great Works Improvements: Tuned the Solar Farm. Regional Unlocks: The advanced coal mine unlocks regionally. Fixed issue where the Trade HQ sometimes did not unlock. Fire Advisor Trading clarity: Tuned the Fire advisor so they do not tell you that neighbors are sending fire trucks when your neighbor has no fire stations. Trading: School buses that travel from a neighbor’s city will show that city’s avatar. Regional Commuting: Fixed an issue where Sims would not be able to take transit out of cities with lots of streetcars or shuttle buses. This could cause some cases where commuting Sims could not return home and their homes would go abandoned. Garbage Trucks and Recycling Trucks: Fixed an issue that some cities experienced where garbage and recycling trucks do not leave their buildings or disappeared when trading service with neighbors. Existing cities who have trucks that have disappeared will have to demolish their missing trucks’ garages and plop new garages. Text Clarification: The “Out of Money” message now says “Can’t find work” when appropriate in rollover feedback and the approval rating UI. This is to clarify your Sims’ actual need. The Walking Dead DLC listed in Steam database

The Steam database has been carrying a listing for The Walking Dead DLC titled 400 Days, according to AGB. The revelation follows a number of teaser clips released by developer Telltale over the past week, showing photos of characters pinned on a 'Missing' board.

The second season of The Walking Dead is slated to arrive this fall, but series story consultant Gary Whitta suggested in February that inter-season content was being planned, noting: “You won't have to wait for Season 2 to play more Walking Dead."

Sony said in March that season one of Telltale’s episodic series will be released on Vita later this year. In our The Walking Dead review, we said the game “deals in a spectrum of emotion that few other games dare to take on, and it does so with aplomb. It’s utterly triumphant, crafting a narrative that proves the power of the medium by embracing what makes it unique, leading to one of the most memorable gameplay experiences ever created.” Here’s what we want to see in The Walking Dead Season 2.

First-person horror-er Daylight coming to PC and PS4 in 2014

Player beware, you're in for a randomly generated scare. Atlus today announced it's partnering with Zombie Studios to bring first-person horror game Daylight to PC and PlayStation 4 worldwide.

The "procedurally generated psychological thriller" plays out differently each time, with randomized corridors snaking through derelict hospitals and other places you don't want to be when the lights go out. Speaking of the lights going out, you'll only have a cell phone's flash and compass app to guide you through the mystery.

The downloadable Unreal Engine 4 game can even use the PlayStation Eye to take a picture the moment a scare happens, though it's up to you whether you want to share itor not. We'd definitely prefer an auto-tweeting feature here.

Daylight will arrive in the first quarter of 2014 on Steam and the PlayStation Store.

The Last of Us 'ripe for more stories,' Joel and Ellie's is over

The Last of Us' world may go on, but the book is closed for Joel and Ellie. Naughty Dog spoke with the PlayStation Blog about its latest game (which we loved, by the way), and gave a little bit of insight into potential sequels.

"I think the world [of The Last of Us] is ripe for more stories, but as far as the journey Joel and Ellie goes on it ends with this game," Creative Director Neil Druckmann said. "We were very conscious that we didn’t want to leave this story dangling. If we never do a sequel we’re ok with it, because we told the story we needed to tell."

Erm, there is still going to be that story-based DLC, though, which sounds like it will focus on other characters who pop up during the campaign. Maybe Naughty Dog didn't need to tell those stories, it just wanted to.

Garrett steals more jewelry in live-action Thief trailer

Garrett is a sneaky bastard. How sly is he? He's so sly he passed off a bunch of live-action footage, which depicts pretty much the same stuff as a CGI trailer from April, as a new Thief teaser for E3.

Check out the new one below and the debut trailer at the bottom to compare for yourself.

We've seen some screenshots for the game, but we hope developer Eidos-Montreal is finally ready to pull back the curtain on the game in action at E3 next week. Thief will hit PC, PS4, and Xbox One in 2014.
