Pokemon X & Y trailer showcases sparkly new 3D gameplay

Nintendo has just dropped a new trailer for this year's upcoming Pokemon X & Y on the 3DS. Showing off the series' first major graphical overhaul, it features the game's sparkling, fully-3D environments, exploration and battles, as well as highlighting new Pokemon types and the virtual pet-style Pokemon-Amie mode.

Pokemon X & Y certainly looks like a true upgrade to a series long-content to follow its admittedly excellent tried-and-trusted formula. A proper, next-gen evolution? All signs currently point to "Yes", but we'll of course bring you our definitive verdict when the game launches worldwide in October.

One locked down compound, dozens of armored goons, and a superpowered twenty-something with nothing better to do combine explosively in this new Infamous: Second Son gameplay video. See how Delsin Rowe combines smoke, fire, and good old fashioned chain beatings into a force for liberty.

As you can read in our E3 preview, Delsin isn't one of those woe-is-me-I-have-superpowers types, and you can tell. It looks like he will have some other supernatural sorts to contend with, but darting through the skies and drainage pipes alike as a wisp of smoke ought to keep him out of trouble.

Second Son is a PlayStation 4 exclusive, and it's coming early next year.

I thought this was a new gameplay video, but, its still good stuff nonetheless. I'm really looking forward to this game. Reply Report

graphics and combat don't look next-gen at all, really. However the acrobatics and maneuverability are very eye catching. Obviously the game is still being worked on, I just hope it ends up being as impressive as it should be. Reply Report

Hooooly crap, that looks good. It looks like he needs no recharging of his powers. Though I liked that mechanic in the original games, I don't see what this guy would recharge on.Going through wents as smoke is also pretty cool. :) Reply Report

I remember reading somewhere that recharging his smoke powers would not be as easy Cole's powers in Infamous 1 & 2. Reply Report

Looking sharp! I really do hope we'll see a lot more of supernatural enemies and abilities, since to me the most striking things where when said powers were used, both the gliding and teleporting from Delsin, and the spiral jumps from the enemies. Reply Report

I'll miss riding the rails of the tract as in Infamous 1 & 2 Reply Report

BladedFalcon - 5 hours, 52 minutes ago

I doubt I'll even notice their absence if I can just warp and glide all across the city instead.I mean, riding the rails was neat, but in practice I barely ever used them, because you had to go out of your way to use them, and hell knows if they would even go near where you wanted to go. Maybe it's just wishful thinking but the presence of the train and the rail like things you see around the 3 minute mark imply that it isn't completely gone. I recall hearing that the fire powers are only one of several power sets you have access to so maybe Cole's moveset will make a transition to the next generation. Reply Report

I enjoyed the grinding but after playing the Halloween expansion I found it hard to go back to traveling the city by foot. I never understood why they didn't implement some sort of warping system via electrical boxes. Reply Report

Man. I didn't realize how much current gen games are showing their age until comparing some of them to this :OBut the fact that we have games like The Last of Us running on seven-year-old machines is pretty amazing. Reply Report

Tyrlanae - 8 hours, 45 minutes ago

I was thinking the same exact thing. When the demo started I was all like "oh, shiny CG, wow that looks good" and then they started playing it and I was like "Nope, foot in mouth, that's in game, holy crap."I agree about the Last of Us, as well. After watching Cerny's speech at Gamelab I really look forward to a similar thing happening with the PS4. The whole easy to learn hard to master concept is great for allowing developers to slowly unlock the potential of the system, and continually push the boundaries and bring out great games even near the end of the machines lifespan. I've been playing infamous 2 lately, and while it's good, it has some flaws which I hope this one can fix because it has a lot of potential. Reply Report

10 minutes of Thief gameplay released

Sony has posted ten minutes of Thief gameplay footage online. Captured from the game’s E3 demo and running on PS4, the section of the game on show takes place a few hours in during a period of unrest in The City, which is ruled with an iron fist by a corrupt control freak called the Baron. His actions spark a revolution, providing protagonist Garrett with the opportunity to infiltrate the Baron's manor on the hunt for a precious gem called the Heart of the Lion.

The E3 gameplay demo is framed around a wider Thief feature which includes an interview with Eidos Montreal producer Stephane Roy, who’s keen to point out that players can approach objectives based on their preferred play style, be it stealthy or aggressive. Among the new features showcased is Focus, which can be used in multiple ways, like increasing Garrett’s aiming ability or to reveal hidden objects. Focus isn’t self regenerating, requiring players to locate certain items like a poppy to replenish it.

The reboot of the classic stealth series was announced for PS4 and PC in March 2013. An Xbox One version was confirmed in May shortly after Microsoft’s console was announced.

Bayonetta 2 trailer shows gameplay, haircut and 2014 release

Bayonetta 2 for Wii U will be released in 2014 according to a special E3 broadcast of Nintendo Direct. A new CG trailer and gameplay trailer were both shown (see below), in which Bayonetta's new haircut was revealed. Yep, it's now short and spiky, like Zoe Wanamaker, but also with Bayonetta's trademark lengthy locks still intact in order to execute her brutal 'Megaton' finishing moves on bosses.

The gameplay trailer shows a boss fight on the top of a moving train, as well as some familiar-looking platform leaping in thy sky. Platinum Games' trademark directorial flair is also evident: look out for Bayonetta fireing a barrage of bullets at an assailant, which a slow-motion camera pan reveals to be in a heart formation. Looking great, but 2014 is quite the wait...

Destiny E3 2013 gameplay trailer is gorgeous

Destiny is looking better and better every time we see it. At Sony's E3 2013 press conference, Bungie took the stage to show off gameplay for the FPS/MMO hybrid, and what we saw looked fantastic. What started out as a quick duo run turned into full-on warfare against a gigantic mech appropriately named a Devilwalker. But we're getting ahead of ourselves; check out the gameplay trailer below.

Gameplay videos of Sonic: Lost World's Wii U and 3DS versions

Sonic: Lost World is fast, colorful, and filled with new takes on series staples. See it yourself in IGN's first look at both the Wii U and 3DS versions of the upcoming game, ahead of its debut at E3 next week.

That's the Wii U version above. On top of the play you see there, Sonic: Lost World will also add in a cooperative play mode which casts a Wii-remote bearing player as Sonic's sidekick Tails, lending a hand through remote-controlled gadgets, and a local competitive mode using the GamePad and TV screens.

Above is the same Windy Hill region as the previous video, but this time for 3DS. It bears the same name and a similar approach, but it's not a port; Sonic: Lost World for 3DS has entirely new level designs to match the mobile system's capabilities. It will support four-player Versus mode locally or online.

What do you think of the blue blur's new style?
