Play as a new character with Assassin's Creed IV season pass

An Assassin's Creed IV season pass will let buyers play as Adewale, a new assassin who serves as first mate to main protagonist Edward Kenway in the upcoming seafaring adventure. While publisher Ubisoft has yet to officially announce the season pass, it was spotted for purchase on Best Buy by AGB.

According to the product description, the season pass includes all planned DLC packs for $19.99, representing a $20 saving off the regular price. DLC will come in the form of extra single-player missions, multiplayer content and “new ways to personalise your pirate experience”.

Ubisoft has also released a new version of the Assassin’s Creed IV E3 gameplay demo featuring commentary from game director Ashraf Ismail, which you can watch below. In a recent interview with ElderGeek, Ismail confirmed the Assassin’s Creed IV release date of October 29 in the US and November 1 in the UK on current-gen consoles, noted that the PC release is expected "a few weeks after", and said the game will be available as a launch title for Xbox One and PS4.

Win your place in Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag. Kind of...

Ubisoft is offering one lucky GamesRadar reader the chance to appear in a massive painting, which is being created to celebrate the release of Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag, later in 2013. We're offering you the chance to have your face painted onto a crew member sailing on one of the two massive ships featured in the artwork.

The massive 2.4m x 4.5m oil painting is being created by the French National School of Art, and it will show a naval battle in the context of the latest Assassin's Creed game. The project is called: Defy History. Want to get your face in a genuine piece of art and become a part of history? Here's how you enter:

Game Cheats:
Alternate costumes:
Complete the indicated task to unlock the corresponding costume.

Achilles' Original outfit (at manor): Complete all Achilles' Homestead missions and interactive conversations.
Altair's robes (at manor): Have 100% Sync on all story based missions.
Assassin's robes: Proceed through the storyline (Sequence 5).
Baltimore outfit (at shops): Start Sequence 09.
Boston outfit (at shops): Start Sequence 06.
Captain Kidd's outfit (at manor): Collect all 24 Peg Leg Trinkets, 4 Map Shards, and solve the riddle on Oak Island.
Charleston outfit (at shops): Start Sequence 06.
Ezio outfit (at manor): Purchase for 30 points in U-Play store.
Jamestown outfit (at shops): Start Sequence 06.
Kanienkeha:ka outfit (at manor): Collect all Feathers.

Infinite Ammo: Epsilon Pivot.
Killing Spree: Theta Pivot. This hack allows you to assassinate enemies during open combat.
Made of Steel: Iota Pivot. This hack allows unlimited health.
Ninja: Lambda Pivot. This hack disables guard detection and investigation.
Recruit: Omicron Pivot. This hack allows unlimited Recruit Tokens.
Season Changer: Tau Pivot. This hack allows you to toggle summer and winter.
Semi-Automatic: Kappa Pivot. This hack disables reload times.
Sun and Moon: Eta Pivot. This hack allows you to toggle day and night.
Thunder Kill: Upsilon Pivot. This hack causes a lightning strike when you make a kill.
Weather Man: Sigma Pivot. This hack allows you to change the weather.

Changing equipment:
To change equipment (for example, to use a new sword), enter the "Equipment" screen at a shop. You can now switch items. Note: Some items, such as certain outfits, can be switched in the basement of the homestead manor.

Skip:
As young Connor/Ratohnhake:ton, Hold [Run] and lightly press the Left Analog-stick in the direction you wish to move. Instead of running, Connor/Ratohnhake:ton should skip.

Becoming incognito:
Use the following trick to go from notorious (wanted) to incognito (not wanted) without paying a bribe to the crier or the printer, and without tearing down any posters. Once you are anonymous (unseen by the enemy) you can use "fast travel" and when you do so, you will become incognito.

Saving time with Nathem:
During the first two or three sequences where you play as Natham, do not spend any time acquiring any amount of money or weapons. You will lose them all after you switch over to Conner.

Distorted screen:
During the mission where you attempt save the man who is trapped in the rapids and held by a log, try to save him just as he is about to go over the waterfall, and as close to the death zone of the falls as possible. When you dive, aim directly for him. If done correctly, the screen will be distorted (even during the intermission sequences). It will look much in the same manner of when Charles Lee's friend hits Conner over the head and he just wakes up. The screen will remain like this until you are able to pause the game.
The Battle Hardened Pack Achievements:
A New Challenger Appears (25) - Finish a multiplayer game session with each of the additional characters.
One for All (25) - With any of the additional characters, perform 20 'Revive' actions.
Stubborn Stunner (25) - Stun 3 pursuers without dying, playing with any of the additional characters.
Wolves for Lambs (25) - Complete a Wolfpack multiplayer session on any of the additional maps.

Assassin's Creed 3 "Outsider" trailer delivers best in-game footage yet

This new trailer is the most incredible one we've seen yet in the hype campaign for Assassin's Creed 3, featuring huge battles, woodland creeping, and oh yeah bear fights!

So far this game is looking to be miles beyond anything we saw in Assassin's Creed 2 or its sequels/expansions Brotherhood and Revelations.

Assassin's Creed 3 gets dirty with Ben Franklin

In an interview with Penny Arcade Report, Alex Hutchinson, creative director on Assassin's Creed III discussed some of the challenges of designing the game. He began by explaining how hard it is to stay true to real people in the AC series.

He said they always try to make sure the people who are assassinated were...actually killed. He says the goal is to make sure they are real people who die in AC at the same place/time as they did in real life.

This branched off into a conversation about portraying Benjamin Franklin realistically, which is rare in most media. While he's often portrayed as an upstanding paladin of American values, he was also kind of a horn dog.

“We went with the more unusual sides of him. Like his love of women,” Hutchinson explained. “He said that women dry out, but they dry out from the top down, and therefore the bits that you need never dry out. I know we’re going to get [complaints], but this is all public record.”

Penny Arcade took the liberty of looking up Franklin's actual quote, and here it is to scar you forever: "Because in every Animal that walks upright, the Deficiency of the Fluids that fill the Muscles appears first in the highest Part: The Face first grows lank and wrinkled; then the Neck; then the Breast and Arms; the lower Parts continuing to the last as plump as ever: So that covering all above with a Basket, and regarding only what is below the Girdle, it is impossible of two Women to know an old from a young one. Assassin's Creed III - New screens leak out of PAX East

Fresh from PAX (via Gamefreaks), here's some new shots from Assassin's Creed III. From the look of the newly-glimpsed HUD, these shots offer your first decent-sized look at the sequel's in-game action. They depict new hero Connor exploring the New World, sneaking about behind some improbably-convenient battlefield cover, and eavesdropping on what we're sure is a very emotional battlefield speech about freedom and honor and so forth.

While your initial glimpses of ACIII have been all Connor, all the time, Ubisoft's said Assassin's Creed III will be Desmond's biggest role yet as well. Assassin's Creed III will be Desmond's biggest role

Connor may be the face of Assassin's Creed III, but it could be series regular Desmond that winds up stealing the show. Speaking to the rookie assassin's role in Ubisoft's upcoming sequel, writer Matt Turner told CVG that fans will spend more time outside of the Animus than usual, hinting, "All I can say about Desmond's story is you're going to experience more Desmond than you've ever had before. We're spending more time on the present than we have in past games.”

Turner was careful not to spoil any details regarding Desmond's arc, but added the character will be crucial the game's plot, adding, "It's a big part of our story and I don't really want to give too many details away because I want people to experience what that is. But rest assured, you're going to see a lot of Desmond. More so than in any past game."

Considering the entire Assassin's Creed series has been building up to a major in-game event scheduled for 2012, it make sense that the assassin living in that era would receive major screen time. The big question is where Ubisoft will take the series beyond “the big event”, and if Desmond will live to see another sequel. Our prediction (based on absolutely nothing) is that the ending of Assassin's Creed III will see players awakening from a future Animus after reliving Desmond's final moments. Apologies if we just blew your mind.
