With some careful disassembley and removing the old jack which was soldered in, the new jack was put in place and the laptop now has power again the way it should!
The first thing is removing the cover plate from the bottom of the laptop and all of the 2×12 and 2×8 screws connecting the bottom and top sides together. And disconeect the WiFi antennas as well as remove the hard drive from the laptop by sliding it over and pulling up.
Once the bottom is taken care, the keyboard has to be removed by popping the top out along the top edge. There are four points that need to be popped out. Once the keyboard is loose, the ribbon cable underneath can be removed to disconnect the keyboard. There are four 2×8 screws then to remove that hold the palm rest in place. As well as removing the power button cable, speaker cable, and video cable from their connectors. One that is done the entire top panel or palm rest can be removed and set aside.
Next, the USB header cable on the bottom right of the motherboard can be removed and the motherboard can be pulled out.
There is now easy access to the power port located right next to the Ethernet jack. Five leads need to be de-soldered and then the jack can be pulled right out. Solder the new jack in place with care, and a good solder joint and everything can be put back together in reverse order.
And there we have it, powered up with the batter charging without having to wiggle the plug around!
