Wii U has lacked the level of third party software support Nintendo and early adopters would have liked in the console’s first six months of availability, but it appears that one of the biggest upcoming blockbusters is headed to the platform. While we’re still awaiting official word from publisher Activision, Infinity Ward executive producer Mark Rubin has seemingly confirmed plans to launch Call of Duty Ghosts on Wii U.
Asked to confirm which platforms the shooter is coming to and when, Rubin told GameSpot: "Right now, we've only announced current-gen and PC as being November 5." Pushed on whether a Wii U version would sit in the current or next-gen “bin”, the Infinity Ward developer said: "It's probably in the next-gen bin, but we're not actually talking about Wii U yet because we want to keep it mysterious. It's PR guys, it's not my fault." Rubin went on to say that Ghosts will be available as a launch day game on Xbox One and PS4.
Activision showed off fresh Call of Duty: Ghosts gameplay footage during a pre-E3 livestream aired on Sunday. The campaign’s big new feature is the addition of a controllable combat dog called Riley. Rubin told GameSpot that Infinity Ward plans to heavily showcase the title’s multiplayer component in the next couple of months.
