Dark Souls II is set for release in March 2014. Publisher Namco Bandai confirmed the launch window to Eurogamer after it appeared on a banner advert for the From Software developed game photographed outside the LA Convention Centre, where next week's E3 will take place. The title is currently slated for release on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC, with no Xbox One or PS4 editions announced.
First revealed in December 2012, the action RPG sequel will feature a new hero, a fresh storyline and an “unfamiliar world” for players to survive in, plus a revamped server-based multiplayer component that promises to “put a distinct Dark Souls II twist on the concept of playing and sharing with others”. In April, one of the series’ new directors largely allayed early concerns we had that the game might shift away from the unrelenting challenges that were the hallmark of the original, which has sold more than 2.3 million copies.
